And simplymomcooks is my little corner of the internet!
I'm the voice, author, and creator behind simplymomcooks. The idea sparked in the summer of 2017, when I was eight months pregnant with my first child and juggling a full‑time job as an elementary school teacher in Portland, Oregon. I wanted meals that could be on the table in 30 minutes or less, without sacrificing flavor or nutrition. So I started jotting down the recipes that saved me the most chaos and posted them on a modest WordPress site. What began as a personal notebook quickly turned into a place where other busy parents could find real‑world cooking solutions.
Fast forward to today, simplymomcooks has become a tiny kitchen community of over 120,000 monthly visitors and more than 2,300 newsletter subscribers who get my “30‑Minute Meal” roundup every Thursday. In 2020 the blog was featured on the Food Network’s “Home Cooking” segment, and in 2022 I released my first e‑book, Quick Comforts for Busy Families, which has sold over 8,000 copies. I’ve also collaborated with a local farm to source seasonal produce for a quarterly “Harvest Recipe” series that launched in March 2023. Each milestone reminds me that the simple, honest meals I love making are resonating with real people.
I now call Asheville, North Carolina home, where I live with my husband Mark, our two kids— Lily, 7, and Noah, 4—and a very opinionated rescue cat named Basil. When I’m not whisking a pan, you’ll find me hiking the Blue Ridge trails, tending to my vegetable garden, or perfecting my Sunday pancake ritual with maple syrup and fresh berries. Cooking is my way of gathering the people I love, and I’m grateful that you’ve invited me into your kitchen.
